Applied Studies

Program Overview

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at Loyola University Chicago understands some adult learners wish to take a wide range of courses to meet their professional and personal interests, so we have designed the BA in Applied Studies degree to enhance your current career or help support a new professional adventure.

A program grounded in the University Core Curriculum, the Applied Studies degree provides a strong foundation in communication and business. The Applied Studies major represents the best way to make the most of your prior credit in a particular subject and accelerate your path to graduation. For example, if you have a considerable amount of credit in English, it’s possible you can use those hours to earn a concentration in English to pair with this major.

The Applied Studies major also offers a streamlined path to graduate school and earning a master’s degree.. For instance, students completing their BA in Applied Studies with SCPS may have up to 3-4 courses waived from their Quinlan School of Business MBA program should they pursue admission to that post-graduate program. With our flexible and accelerated 8-week online courses, you can complete your degree quickly from an accredited, leading university and enter the workplace confident you possess the skills necessary to face the challenges of contemporary society and realize your personal and professional objectives.
