Public Health Certificate
How will you help address health disparities?
Loyola's commitment to serve people who live on the margins and suffer other injustices includes efforts to eliminate disparities in access to health care in Chicago and throughout the world. The Public Health Certificate (PHC) program trains students to address racial and economic health disparities through public health research, practice, and advocacy. Loyola's campuses, in racially and economically diverse communities, provide "real-world" experience during your certificate courses, and our health professionals and faculty are committed to promoting social justice in the Jesuit tradition.
KNOWLEDGE

- Be proficient in the core public health disciplines, including epidemiology, biostatistics, and health policy.

Admission
To apply for the Public Health Certificate, prospective students must complete the following:
- Graduate school application - select CPH-CERT - Certificate in Public Health
- Submit one set of official undergraduate transcripts
- Submit a statement of purpose
- Submit two letters of recommendation
The GRE is not required for this program. It is required for students to enroll in and apply these credits to any of Loyola's MPH programs.

HOW WILL A PHC ENHANCE MY CAREER OPTIONS?
The program is well suited to individuals who seek advanced competency in public health without having to commit to a two-year master’s program. The 12 credits also may be applied to a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Loyola.
IS THE GRE REQUIRED FOR THIS PROGRAM?
No, students do not need to take the GRE to be admitted to the Public Health Certificate program. It is required for students who intend to move on to an MPH program.

Our Commitment to You
Graduates with a Public Health Certificate from Loyola will possess the following knowledge, skills, and professional values required to address public health concerns in your field of health care or pursue apply the credits to a master's in public health:
Curriculum
Students must complete 12 credit hours (four courses) of introductory coursework including:
- Epidemiology
- Biostatistics
- Public Health Practice and Management
- One pre-approved elective
The PHC program may be completed online.
