MS Dietetics

The curriculum introduces theories and opportunity for skill development to improve health care. With an appreciation for the value of interprofessional collaboration and team practice, classes are shared with other majors, including graduate nursing and public health students.  Several classes are specific to dietetic practice. At least one elective is included.

You will learn to redesign health care processes, use information technology, develop effective health care teams, coordinate care, and enact performance and outcome measurements, all essential methods of performance improvement in health care administration.

This program promotes ethical decision-making, social justice, and advocacy for underserved populations, consistent with Loyola's Jesuit traditions.

Master of Science in Dietetics Required Courses

1. A completed application form. When applying for the MS in Dietetics, choose the upcoming academic year and "Health Sciences and Public Health." Please note, you will need to complete the “Biographical Information” section of the application first. Once that section is completed, you will be able to choose Dietetics MS in the “Application Information” section.
2. Official transcripts of all undergraduate and any graduate coursework
3. Three letters of recommendation, preferably from a professional colleague or supervisor who has completed a master's degree or higher. If the applicant has been admitted to the dietetic internship within the last 12 months, the letters of recommendation that were submitted for the dietetic internship application may be used.
4. A statement of purpose describing your professional goals and reasons for pursuing an advanced degree
5. Current Registered Dietitian status as demonstrated by documentation from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
