MS Dietetics

For registered dietitians who want to be leaders in health care administration.

Loyola University Chicago offers a unique opportunity to complete a Master of Science degree in Dietetics. The program offers a healthcare administration focus, preparing professional, registered dietitians to design and implement systems that lead to desired health outcomes. This program can also be completed while simultaneously completing the Dietetic Internship

Our Commitment to You

You will be learning from faculty and preceptors that are experts in their fields and hold national certifications in their areas of specialization. Most courses for the Master of Science in Dietetics are online or are provided in a hybrid format.

KNOWLEDGE

The curriculum introduces theories and opportunity for skill development to improve health care. With an appreciation for the value of interprofessional collaboration and team practice, classes are shared with other majors, including graduate nursing and public health students.  Several classes are specific to dietetic practice. At least one elective is included.

SKILLS

You will learn to redesign health care processes, use information technology, develop effective health care teams, coordinate care, and enact performance and outcome measurements, all essential methods of performance improvement in health care administration.

PROFESSIONAL VALUES

This program promotes ethical decision-making, social justice, and advocacy for underserved populations, consistent with Loyola's Jesuit traditions.

Curriculum

Successful completion of a comprehensive exam is a program requirement for degree conferral. The Master of Science in Dietetics (without the dietetic internship) does not require supervised practice or practicum hours in a health care agency. FONU 410 requires experiential learning in a clinical skills or simulation lab on campus.
